About the Authors

Michael Barnett is Professor of International Affairs and Political Science at George Washington University. He is the author of several books on humanitarianism, including Eyewitness to Mass Atrocity: The US and the Rwanda Genocide.

Thomas G. Weiss is Presidential Professor of Political Science and Director of the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies at The City University of New York. He is the author of numerous books on humanitarianism, including Humanitarianism: A Rough History.
