Willie Nelson is an American music icon. He has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, won countless awards, and been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. But behind the legend is a complex and fascinating man.

In Willie Nelson: The Outlaw, renowned music journalist Graeme Thomson paints a vivid portrait of the man behind the legend. Drawing on unprecedented access to Nelson's family, friends, and colleagues, Thomson tells the story of Nelson's remarkable life and career.

Nelson was born in Abbott, Texas, in 1933. He began playing guitar at an early age and wrote his first song at the age of 10. He dropped out of high school to pursue a music career and worked a variety of odd jobs before landing a job as a songwriter for Pamper Music in Nashville.

In 1962, Nelson signed a recording contract with Liberty Records. He released his debut album, ...And Then I Wrote, in 1964. The album was a commercial failure, but it caught the attention of Waylon Jennings, who invited Nelson to join him on tour.

Nelson and Jennings became close friends and musical collaborators. In 1973, they released the album Wanted! The Outlaws, which was a critical and commercial success. The album helped to define the outlaw country movement and made Nelson a star.

Over the next few decades, Nelson continued to release successful albums and tour the world. He also starred in several films and television shows. In 1993, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Willie Nelson: The Outlaw is a must-read for fans of Willie Nelson and for anyone interested in the history of American music. Thomson's writing is clear and engaging, and he provides a wealth of new information about Nelson's life and career.

Whether you're a long-time fan of Willie Nelson or just discovering his music, Willie Nelson: The Outlaw is a book that you won't want to miss.
